RCR Flooring Products Ltd is delighted to announce its shortlisting in the Herald Business Awards 2018, Manufacturer of the Year category.

Based at Lee Mill near Plymouth for all its 35 years, RCR Flooring Products (formerly Permaban Ltd) first enjoyed significant growth in 2002 when it launched AlphaJoint – a steel armoured joint system designed and manufactured at Lee Mill. This rapidly became the global ‘industry-standard’ method for protecting the delicate edges of concrete slabs, and it remains hugely popular today.
In 2012 we redefined armoured joints yet again with the launch of Permaban Signature. With its unique hexagonal profile, it offers superior concrete edge protection in even the hardest-working warehouse environments.

This hexagonal design has also been used to develop Signature AR, a joint repair system to replace and upgrade straight joints which have become damaged, typically through forklift traffic. Uniquely, Signature AR is manufactured from glass reinforced nylon (GRN), rather than the traditional steel – yet another industry ‘first’.

Great products alone do not guarantee ongoing success; therefore, one of our core strategies has been heavy investment in our staff. During the last two years over 70% of our workforce have either completed or are currently working towards a level 2 adult apprenticeship where they learn lean manufacturing techniques and advanced problem-solving tools through both classroom and live project work.

Furthermore, several members of the team have achieved either a level 3 or level 5 CMI management qualifications to ensure the continuous personal development of key staff members who may become the senior managers of the future.

During 2017 we also developed a fully integrated management system to comply with the latest international standards for quality, environment and health and safety management; and we are now proud to be certified by BSI to ISO9001:2015, ISO14001:2015 and OHSAS18001:2007.

As part of the international RCR Industrial Flooring group of companies, our export opportunities have vastly expanded, and our products feature in projects worldwide for major international brands such as DHL, Honda and Lidl.
